If you are a senior of
any age who regrets not having learned to play golf, it is
definitely not too late. Perhaps you are intimidated by
watching the professionals play golf on TV. Actually, the
truth is, the great majority of golfers we personally meet,
never had a chance to play golf until after they retired.
Golf truly is a sport you
can play your entire life. Hopefully you will never get too
old for golf. If you play on a regular basis, it will keep
your body properly conditioned no matter what the calendar
says. But residency in a warm climate is pretty much
required for you to play golf year round.
In this area there are so
many lesson and practice facilities which are
decently-priced that you should be able to learn to play
fairly quickly. One of the things I really love about golf
is: if I cannot get anyone to go with me, I can either go
play alone (or possibly the pro shop will put me with a
group which needs a player) or I can go to the putting green
or the driving range and practice all by myself. Golf is
extremely flexible in so many ways.
Golf is one of the few
games where accomplished players can play with mediocre
players but everyone can have a wonderful time due to the
way golf is "handicapped" and due to the placement of the
areas where you stand on the teeing ground. What that means
is that the better a player is, the farther back they stand
to hit the ball on the first hit. I will not try to explain
how the "handicapping" part of it works, because you will
learn that as you learn to play.
